Message from the Principal

It is an exciting time to be a Fulton Falcon!   The 2008-09 school year was one of the most successful academic years in the Fulton's recent history; we were one of only five Knox County High Schools to make Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) in every student testing subgroup.  We believe in giving credit where credit is due; this amazing turn around was accomplished by talented and driven educators unwilling to accept anything less than the best from their students. With that said, we will not tire in our pursuit of excellence for all students at Fulton.   Here, we truly believe every student is capable of academic achievement at high levels, and we dedicate ourselves to doing whatever it takes to push our kids to that goal.

Each student is a critical part of Fulton’s success and each has been charged to broaden his or her horizons.  Over the past year with the aid of Title I money, we have been able to bring in over $400,000 worth of new technology into the school.  This technology includes a Smart Board and LCD projector for every classroom as well as a computer lab dedicated to each Small Learning Community.  We are also happy to announce our newest computer lab dedicated to a burgeoning partnership with PellissippiStateCommunity College.  Before leaving high school, students in this lab will be able to earn college credit through engagement in classes led by Pellissippi instructors. This is an opportunity for students not only to get experience in college, but also to earn required credits for free.

This year we will be gauging our success in 10 categories:

1)  Increase student attendance

2) Continue to increase enrollment in Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment Courses

3) Continue to reduce the number of students who choose to drop out of school

4) Continue to increase the number of students involved in Fulton's honors program

5) Continue to increase the number of students who score proficient or advanced on State EOC

     tests

6) Continue to increase the number of students scoring proficient or advanced on the state

    Gateway Exams

7) Increase the percentage of sophomores scoring a 20 or higher on the PLAN Test

8) Continue to increase the number of students scoring proficient on the Junior TCAP Writing

    Assessment

9) Continue to decrease the number of student suspensions

10) Track the number of students failing 1 or more classes in 3 week increments

As you can see we have set our standards high. We look forward to partnering with our staff,

students and their families, and the community to make Fulton the best learning experience in KnoxCounty.
